Arif Efendi | Business Leader, Investor and Philanthropist
Business leader, investor and philanthropist Arif Efendi, who was raised in the US but is now based in the UK, is the principal of a single-family office in London. In this role his primary focus is on overseeing a variety of private investments in the UK and Europe, in sectors including technology, hospitality and leisure, and sports. He also heads up the organisation’s asset management division, which involves working with global long-short equities products as well as private capital deployments and solutions of a longer-term nature.
Prior to this, Arif Efendi served as a consultant for nearly two years to ADCO Advisory Company, a specialist advisory company offering strategic guidance and funding solutions to companies in the UK in relation to commercial litigation and financial services investments.
Career History
From 2011 to 2016, Mr Efendi held a principal position at an international investment and commodities trading business that held financial interests in mining and managed a global commodities trading book.
Arif Efendi’s career in the financial services and banking sectors began in August 2010 at the leading Africa-focussed emerging markets investment bank, Standard Bank, where he worked on the African Equities desk within the Global Markets team for nearly a year.
Philanthropy
Having earned his JROTC high school diploma from the New York Military Academy in 2004, Mr Efendi went on to study at Norwich University in Vermont, one of the US’s leading military colleges. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration in 2009, and in the autumn of 2021 he donated $200,000 to support the university’s Bicentennial campaign.
Arif Efendi’s gift to the university was in recognition of the positive impact his time there had on his life and subsequent success in business. He remembers how he was personally tested during his studies, taken out of his comfort zone and encouraged to take on new challenges. Although he originally had designs on becoming a US Army general, he switched direction partway through his time at the university to focus on pursuing a career in business and credits the college with providing him with the tools required for his future success.
Hobbies & Interests
Mr Efendi’s key skills include contract negotiation, financial modelling, strategic planning, new business development and creating marketing strategies. Outside of work, he has a keen interest in football and football management and is a fan of fantasy football.
